Servus Collection Round (Tube) Wooden Wick in Exotic Wood – 90 × 10 mm – Set of 20

Servus Collection
60,61 RON

The set contains 20 wicks. The metal stand is NOT included and is ordered separately.

A tube-shaped wick of exotic wood, laser cut: 90 mm long, 10 mm in diameter. For candles poured in containers.

The tube burns around its whole circumference: a ring flame, not a line flame.

We don't yet have a diameter range measured by us for this shape, as we do for the straight and cross wicks. The manufacturer gives it for candles over 10–12 cm. A burn test on your recipe is a must.

The set contains 20 wicks. The metal stand is NOT included and is ordered separately: you'll find it here. Without it, the wick won't stand straight in the container when you pour.

A wick of exotic hardwood, laser cut and rolled into a tube. Length 90 mm, diameter 10 mm, 0.6 mm material. Used for candles poured in containers.

A tube burns differently from a strip

The straight and cross wicks are flat strips: they burn along one or two lines. The tube burns around its whole circumference, so the heat comes from a ring, not a line. It is a different burn pattern, not a bigger version of the others.

What we know and what we don't know yet

We don't yet have a diameter range measured by us for the round shape. For the straight and cross shapes we give it to you from our burn tests, on each type of wax. Here we haven't burned enough batches to fix the figure, and we won't make one up.

What's more, the sources we have don't agree with each other. The manufacturer's data sheet gives it for large candles, over 10–12 cm. Older descriptions on our site present it the other way round, as having a more concentrated, more controlled flame than the cross. We won't settle between them before we burn the batches ourselves.

Until then, the answer you can rely on is your own burn test, on the final recipe, before a run.

Sînziana says: “With the straight and cross wicks I give you the figure because we've burned them. With the round one we haven't collected enough batches yet, and I'd rather tell you that than give you a nice number that costs you a batch. What I have to hand right now contradicts itself: the manufacturer's data sheet says one thing, our old texts said another. Until I burn them, burn a test piece yourself and write to us with what came out.”

How it behaves in production

  • A ring flame, not a line flame. The heat goes out evenly in every direction, and the melt pool opens round.
  • Wood isn't a uniform material. The grain isn't identical from one piece to the next, and that shows in the burn. With each new batch, burn a test piece before a run.
  • The crackle depends on the combination. In some recipes and containers, the wick gives a gentle crackle, like wood in a fireplace. It happens often, but not with every wax and every diameter.

Fitting on the metal stand

The metal stand holds the base of the wick in the container and keeps it upright while you pour. It is ordered separately: Stable metal stand for wooden wicks.

Why we sell the stands separately. A wooden wick is cut to the height of the glass, and the offcuts make good pieces for smaller candles. The stands, on the other hand, get used up faster than the wicks. In the workshop we work with them separately, so we use the material right to the end.

What this wick doesn't do

  • It is NOT a wick for every candle. The same piece burns differently in different recipes.
  • It does NOT yet have a diameter range measured by us. We start from the manufacturer's indication and from your test.
  • It is NOT a pillar wick. It is designed for container candles, on a metal stand. For candles poured in moulds, with stearin, go for the braided cotton wick.
  • The crackle can't be promised. It depends on the wax and the diameter.
  • It does NOT come with a metal stand. It is ordered separately.

The right-hand column isn't decoration. What says “measured”, we checked ourselves. What says “stated by the manufacturer” comes from the manufacturer's data sheet and we haven't tested it: we pass it on as it was given to us, with their name on it. And where it says “not yet measured”, that is exactly the case.

Step by step

  1. Start from the container diameter and the wax you are pouring.
  2. Fit the tube on the metal stand before pouring and check that it stands upright.
  3. Cut the length to the height of the glass, with the wick already fixed.
  4. The burn test, a must here: light it and read it after 2–3 hours. The melt pool should reach the edge. Too small: the container is too wide for a single wick. An unsteady flame that jumps: the glass is too narrow for this shape.
  5. Change one variable at a time and note the batch, wax, fragrance and diameter. If you get a good combination, write to us: that is how the range we don't have yet gets built.

For candles poured in containers, fitted on the metal stand, which is ordered separately. For the round shape we don’t yet have a diameter range measured by us: the manufacturer’s data sheet gives it for large candles, over 10–12 cm, and until we’ve burned enough batches ourselves, the answer you can rely on is your own burn test on the final recipe, before a run.

The cross is made of two flat strips slotted together and burns along two lines. The tube burns around its whole circumference, so the heat comes from a ring, not a line. It is a different burn pattern, not a bigger version of the cross. Which of the two suits your diameter we can’t settle yet: the burn test on your recipe shows it.

A ring flame, not a line flame: the heat goes out evenly in every direction, and the melt pool opens round. How big the flame is at your diameter we can’t say yet. The manufacturer’s data sheet gives it for large candles, over 10–12 cm, and older descriptions on our site presented it as having a more controlled flame than the cross. We won’t settle it before we burn the batches ourselves; until then, burn a test piece on your recipe.

Yes. The wick is compatible with soy wax, paraffin and other container waxes. Even so, the burn can vary depending on the fragrance, the additives and the container diameter, which is why burn tests are recommended.

Yes. The wooden wick has to be fitted in a metal stand for wooden wicks, which holds the base of the wick in the container and keeps it upright while pouring and burning.

Wood is not a uniform material: the grain structure, the wood’s own oils and its moisture content (approx. 6–10%) can vary slightly. These differences can affect the size of the flame or the burn rate.

At a high fragrance concentration (above approximately 8% fragrance load), wooden wicks can become more sensitive and there is a risk of the flame “drowning”. In these situations, testing the capillarity and the stability of the burn is recommended before final production.
