From the Servus workshop: what it is

CINNAMON #EU37881F is a liquid fragrance oil from the spiced family, made by French Color & Fragrance International GmbH (Germany), in a 50 ml bottle. Read from its composition, it is a gingerbread cinnamon, not a clean bark cinnamon: eugenol, the clove note, is at 5.15–10.8%, above cinnamic aldehyde (2.35–4.85%), and ethyl maltol adds a burnt sugar, caramel note. Cardamom oil and cinnamic alcohol round out the middle, and eucalyptol gives it a fresh top.

Sînziana says: “Cinnamon is gingerbread cinnamon. We poured it in the workshop in June and at pouring the smell was strong — I wrote in the notebook ‘cinnamon or gingerbread’. With the temperature you don’t have the worry you have with other scents: the flash point is above 93 degrees. The worry is your hands: it’s a strong allergen, so I wear gloves when weighing.”

Behaviour in production

We poured it in the workshop. In the test on 16 June 2026, on a production batch, with wax already coloured, the smell at pouring was strong, of cinnamon or gingerbread — that’s what the notebook says. That is all we note: it is the smell in the workshop during pouring, not a promise about how strongly the finished candle comes through, cold or while burning.

“Gingerbread” has an explanation in the composition. There is more eugenol — the smell of cloves — than cinnamic aldehyde, and the allergen report gives it at 10.39%. Add ethyl maltol for caramel and the cardamom, and you have a gingerbread cinnamon, not a dry, bark one. If you’re looking for pure cinnamon, cinnamon-stick style, compare on a small piece first.

Temperature isn’t its problem. The flash point on the data sheet is above 93 °C, above the temperature at which most waxes are scented. You add it at the fragrance-adding temperature on your wax’s data sheet, stirring slowly.

Your hands are. Eugenol and cinnamic aldehyde are skin sensitisers, and the data sheet classifies the blend H317 and H319. The concentrate isn’t touched with bare hands: you weigh it wearing gloves, and if it gets on your skin or in your eyes, you rinse with plenty of water.

With a new batch, test before the large production run. Note the batch number on the label, the wax, the percentage, the wick and the container, then compare on a small piece, on your final recipe.

Dosage by application: how you build a collection

With the same scent you make a candle, soap, room spray, diffuser or cream — but each product has its own ceiling in the scent’s IFRA certificate (amendment 51):

Application IFRA category Maximum
Candles (any type) Cat 12 no limit (100%)
Room spray Cat 10B 37.11%
Soap, shower gel, shampoo (rinse-off) Cat 9 10.10%
Reed diffuser, laundry and dishwashing detergent Cat 10A 10.10%
Fine fragrance, eau de toilette Cat 4 5.15%
Hair treatments Cat 7A · 7B 3.50%
Body lotions and creams, hand cream Cat 5A · 5C 1.31%
Toner, face cream Cat 5B 0.86%
Make-up, eye products Cat 3 0.43%
Deodorant, baby products, wipes, sanitary products Cat 2 · 5D · 8 · 11A · 11B 0.28%
Lip products, toys Cat 1 0% — prohibited
Toothpaste, mouthwash Cat 6 0% — prohibited

The label for your reed diffuser with Cinnamon, on a Diffusol M base, comes out of the calculator.

(The figures are rounded down, to two decimal places; the certificate gives them to eight. A safety limit is never rounded up.)

Read it like this: in candles, soap and room spray you have room; in cream you don’t. Soap takes up to 10.10%, body cream only 1.31%, and face cream 0.86% — the same percentage doesn’t carry over from one to another.

Candles: the real ceiling comes from your wax’s data sheet. In our formulas: 6–8% in containers, 5–6% in moulds, 4–6% in figurines, and a first scented candle starts from 5%. Weighed, not counted in drops — the density is ≈ 0.96, so 50 ml ≈ 48 g, enough for about 800 g of wax at 6%. Added at the fragrance-adding temperature on the wax’s data sheet, stirred slowly for a minute or two.

Soap and cosmetics: keep to the ceiling of the exact category in the table. In the workshop we work at 1–3% in soap. For your product’s label, the scent’s allergen report is under Download, on this page — for this scent it has eight entries, with eugenol at the top.

A complete system — what you pour together with the scent: for candles, container wax or wax for moulds, the right wick and liquid dye. For soap and cosmetics: cosmetic bases and soap colourant. For volumes and continuity of stock, Servus Club.

Stated limits

It is NOT for lips, toys, toothpaste or mouthwash — IFRA restricts it to 0% (Cat 1 and Cat 6).

It does NOT go into cream at the soap percentage — in soap you’re allowed 10.10%, in body cream 1.31%, in face cream 0.86%.

It does NOT go above 10.10% in a reed diffuser — that is the IFRA ceiling for category 10A, even if the diffuser base would take more.

It is NOT the scent for deodorants or a baby line — the ceiling is 0.28%, below what makes sense in a recipe.

It is NOT pure bark cinnamon — eugenol and ethyl maltol take it towards gingerbread. If your recipe calls for dry cinnamon, test first.

It is NOT an essential oil and it is NOT natural — it is a perfumery composition, with cardamom oil in the formula.

How to read IFRA limits in practice: IFRA fragrances for candles — how much you’re allowed vs. how it burns. How much you add, when you add it and why sometimes you can’t smell it: fragrance oil for candles.

What needs checking on your recipe: how strongly it comes through cold and while burning in your wax, at your percentage · whether it changes the shade of white wax (the colour of the liquid isn’t given on the data sheet) · the wick on your diameter at the final percentage. Before the large production run, one small piece.

Behaviour per recipe (how strongly it comes through in each wax, the final shade) is set by testing in the workshop — it isn’t on the data sheet.

Step by step

  1. Check the IFRA limit for your application (the table above) — for cream, 1.31%, not the soap percentage.
  2. Weigh, wearing gloves: 50 ml ≈ 48 g. At low percentages, the scale beats the measuring jug.
  3. For candles, add it at the fragrance-adding temperature on your wax’s data sheet; stir slowly for a minute or two.
  4. For soap and cosmetics, download the allergen report and write the label from it — here it has eight entries.
  5. Test small — one piece on the final recipe, judged after two days: scent cold, while burning, the colour.

Raluca Nacu-Petras,

Buna Sînziana,
Multumesc pentru e-mail.
Coletul a ajuns conform estimarii, cu toate produsele in stare foarte buna.
Sunt in cautarea retetei perfecte :)
Mult succes in activitate si multumesc pentru descrierile produselor de pe site.
Raluca

It is a spiced fragrance oil made by French Color & Fragrance International (Germany): gingerbread cinnamon, with cloves, caramel and cardamom. It isn’t an essential oil and it isn’t natural. It is used in candles, soap, room spray and diffusers, each at its own IFRA ceiling. It isn’t used on lips, in toys, toothpaste or mouthwash, where the limit is 0%.

Like gingerbread cinnamon, not like dry bark cinnamon: there is more eugenol, the clove note, than cinnamic aldehyde, and ethyl maltol adds caramel. We poured it in the workshop on 16 June 2026 and, at pouring, the smell was strong, of cinnamon or gingerbread. How strongly your finished candle comes through, cold and while burning, depends on the wax and the percentage.

The IFRA limits, amendment 51, for this scent: candles no limit, room spray 37.11%, soap and rinse-off products 10.10%, reed diffuser 10.10%, fine fragrance 5.15%, hair products 3.50%, body and hand creams 1.31%, face cream 0.86%, deodorant and baby products 0.28%, lips and oral products 0%. For candles, in our formulas, 6–8% in containers and 5–6% in moulds.

No. In soap, which is rinsed off, the IFRA certificate allows up to 10.10%, but in body cream the ceiling is 1.31%, and in face cream 0.86%. A product that stays on the skin has its own limit, much lower, because eugenol and cinnamic aldehyde are sensitisers. You work out the percentage on the exact category of the product, not on the broadest one.

The scent’s allergen report has eight entries: eugenol 10.39%, cinnamic aldehyde 4.85%, cinnamic alcohol 1.70%, benzyl alcohol 0.30%, plus limonene, linalool, geraniol and coumarin below 0.05%. You work them out at your usage percentage and put on the label whatever exceeds the thresholds in Regulation 1223/2009. The report, the safety data sheet and the IFRA certificate can be downloaded from the page, under Download.

Don’t change all the variables at once, because then you can’t isolate the cause. Check in turn the wax and its batch, the weighed percentage, the temperature at which you added the fragrance, the wick and how many days ago the candle was poured. With a new batch of the scent, test one piece before production. Send us the details on WhatsApp at +40 726 162 810 (we answer in English): the scent code, the wax, the batch, the percentage, the temperature, the wick.

The scent is made by French Color & Fragrance International, a named, verifiable source, and we poured it in our own workshop and noted what we smelled, with the date. The safety data sheet, the IFRA certificate and the allergen report can be downloaded from the page, and each bottle has a compliant label, with batch and UFI code. We also tell you what is tight about it: the low ceiling in creams. Servus Club has volume terms for active workshops.
